Kingston hangs on, beats Wellington 1-0

The Kingston Voyageurs took the lead against the Wellington Dukes in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory.

A goal 8:25 into the the first period by Ludlow Harris proved to be the game winner, and powered Kingston to the victory.

The Voyageurs were boosted by Charlie Finn, who turned in a shutout with 34 saves. Finn managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.43 prior to the game.

Kingston was paced by Harris, who registered one goal.

The Voyageurs managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kingston wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Voyageurs' defensive play was more effective than usual against Wellington. Kingston averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. The Dukes were unable to stop the Voyageurs from sending pucks towards the net, and Kingston eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Wellington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Dukes could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Wellington puts an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. The Dukes forced the Voyageurs goalie Finn to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Wellington's Matt Larose stopped 35 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Dukes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities.
