Banga leads Trenton over Lindsay, 6-2Lindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Dec 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies had trouble finding ways to stop the Trenton Golden Hawks, which beat Muskies, 6-2. Sammy Banga was all over the ice for Trenton, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Banga scored the first of his two goals at 39 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Josh Timpano provided the assist. Banga's next tally made the score 3-0 Trenton with 8:07 left in the first period. Timpano assisted on the tally. The Golden Hawks stifled Lindsay's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Golden Hawks average 3.7 goals per game. Trenton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Trenton additionally got points from Erlich Doerksen, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Trenton included Dillon Warner, who had one and Shawn Hulshof, who had two. In addition, Trenton received assists from Greg Trichilo, who had two and Jordan Minello, who had three. The Golden Hawks were unable to stop the Muskies from sending pucks towards the net, and Lindsay eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Muskies were helped by Matt McCartney, who finished with one goal. McCartney scored 14:22 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Louis-David Bourgault provided the assist. Bryan Hignett also scored for Lindsay. More assists for Lindsay came via Bryce Sweeting, Terry Snoddon, and Jake Taylor, who contributed one a piece. Andrew Winsor rejected 34 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tanner Davis recorded 23 saves for Lindsay. The Muskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
