St. Michaels rips Hamilton, 9-1

The St. Michaels Buzzers had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-1 win over the Hamilton Red Wings.

St. Michaels got the win thanks to a great game by Nicholas Lepone, who had one goal and two assists. Lepone scored 5:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Jared Walsh assisted on the tally.

The Buzzers were led by goalie Adrian Ignagni, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Ignagni managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.72 prior to the game.

St. Michaels' offense rang up 53 shots on Hamilton's net. The Buzzers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. St. Michaels averages 4.3 goals per game. The Buzzers cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

St. Michaels also got points from Jake Clements, who also tallied one goal and one assist, David Italiano, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Troy Josephs, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jake Evans, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Matt Buckles, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Jordan Merante, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Michael Neville also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Marco Ferraro, who had two and Jordan Schneider, Stephen Pietrobon, Joseph Berton, and CJ Shugart, who contributed one a piece.

The Red Wings' offense operated below they season average. Hamilton puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. St. Michaels was unable to stop the Red Wings from sending pucks towards the net, and Hamilton eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Buzzers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Alex Broks-Potts rejected 44 shots on goal for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
