Oakville rolls over Mississauga, 3-0

The Oakville Blades were firing on all cylinders against the Mississauga Chargers, and when the final buzzer sounded Blades emerged with a 3-0 win.

Oakville was paced by Kris Bennet, who racked up one goal. Bennet scored 17:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Jonah Renouf picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:27 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Blades stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Oakville's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Chargers. The Blades allow 2.3 goals per game. Oakville's offense rang up 43 shots on Mississauga's net.

Oakville also got a goal from Sean Perichak as well. More assists for Oakville came via Matt Alvaro, who had two and Nathan Renouf, Len Fabbri, and Rory Bell, who contributed one a piece.

The Chargers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Mississauga puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Evan Buitenhuis rejected 20 shots on goal for the Blades. Oakville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zach Berg was ejected from the game. Austin Washkurak recorded 40 saves for the Chargers. Mississauga totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For the Chargers, Lucas Venuto was ejected from the game.
