Toronto squeaks by Buffalo, 5-3

The Toronto Junior Canadiens gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nicholas Jarzabek's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Toronto was paced by Jarzabek, who grabbed one goal. Jarzabek scored 12:50 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Toronto.

Toronto also got points from Joseph Santino, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Danny Liscio also scored for Toronto. In addition, Toronto received assists from Mark Spadafora, who had two and Matthew Nosella, Dalton APM Hnatko, Cody Thompson, and Aaron Spivak, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo stifled the Junior Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Jr. Sabres were helped by Pat Egan, who registered one goal. Egan scored on the power play 2:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Buffalo had gained a power play chance when Luca Doctor was whistled for holding. Ben Casale assisted on the tally. Buffalo additionally got points from Nolan Sheeran, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Buffalo also got a goal from Darrin Trebes as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Tim Kielich, who had one and Alex Dagnal, who had two.

Denny Dubblestyne made 22 saves for Toronto on 25 shots. The Junior Canadiens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. Sabres' Parker Gahagen stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Buffalo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
