Milton's Kobryn deadly on offense in 11-3 win against Hamilton

Behind a great game by Brad Kobryn, who had five goals, the Milton Icehawks defeated the Hamilton Red Wings, 11-3.

Kobryn got on the scoresheet 59 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 8:29 into the second, at 1:33 into the third, at 5:13 into the third, and at 19:15 into the third.

Hamilton was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Milton was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Icehawks forced the Red Wings goalie Bret Gilmore to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Milton outdid its season average for goals scored. The Icehawks average 3.9 goals per game.

Milton additionally got points from Jake Baird, who also registered one goal and two assists, Michael Capicotto, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Shane Bennett, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Milton included Daniel Holt, who had one and Jonathon Buttitta, who had two. In addition, Milton received assists from Brock Bottachio, Ryan Burns, and Josh Pace, who contributed one a piece, Austin Kosack, Jeremy Laing, Justin Devincentis, and Daniel Poutscongas, who each chipped in two, and Tye Campbell and Karndeep Natt, who contributed three a piece.

Hamilton's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Red Wings finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Hamilton was helped by Adam Brady, who had one goal. Brady scored on the power play 19:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Milton. A slashing penalty on Bryce Abraham had put the Red Wings on the power play. Troy Crema picked up the assist. Dylan Hutton also scored for Hamilton. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Niko Porikos, Patrice Fozo, and Alex LeBrosse, who each chipped in one.

Justin Urquhart rejected 27 shots on goal for Milton. The Icehawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Gilmore recorded 40 saves for Hamilton. The Red Wings registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
