Toronto uses shootout to best Toronto Lakeshore, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Toronto Junior Canadiens defeated the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Toronto overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Junior Canadiens trailed 2-0 after a goal by Toronto Lakeshore's Nathan Feric at 12:14 in the first period. Toronto tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Aaron Spivak at 14:42 in the third period.

The Junior Canadiens were led by Nicholas Jarzabek, who registered one goal. Jarzabek scored 3:03 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Connor Prudames assisted on the tally.

Toronto's offense rang up 34 shots on the Patriots' net.

Toronto also got points from Adam Logozzo, who also had one goal and one assist and Danny Liscio, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Toronto received assists from Mark Spadafora, who had two and Robert Cammalleri, Travis Hill, and Anthony Repaci, who contributed one a piece.

Toronto Lakeshore forced the Junior Canadiens goalie Denny Dubblestyne to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Patriots were helped by Daniel Tedesco, who grabbed two goals. Tedesco scored the first of his two goals at 9:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Mike Vallescuro picked up the assist. Tedesco's next tally made the score 3-2 Toronto Lakeshore with 15:12 left in the second period. Wes Deme provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Deme, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Kyle Dutra and Michael Apreda, who each chipped in one.

Dubblestyne rejected 27 shots on goal for Toronto. The Junior Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Toronto Lakeshore's Joseph Pianta stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Patriots incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
