GAME RECAP

Lindsay boosted by Davis' play in net, beats Wellington 6-1

Wellington CC    Sun, Dec 16, 2012

Louis-David Bourgault was a peerless playmaker for the Lindsay Muskies, as he dished out four to beat the Wellington Dukes, 6-1.

Lindsay was led by goalie Tanner Davis, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Davis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.12 prior to the game.

Wellington's power play was ineffective against the Muskies' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Lindsay made Dukes' goaltenders to work without much rest, totaling 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Matt Larose made 27 stops and Hayden Lavigne made nine. The Muskies' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Wellington power plays. Lindsay found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Muskies average 3.6 goals per game.

Lindsay also got points from Dean Klomp, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jake Taylor, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lindsay included Matt McCartney, who had two and Dylan Fitze and Jesse Gregory, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Cole Murduff, Patrick Thornton, Patrick Hamilton, Vince Herlihey, and Tyler Donaldson, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay was unable to stop the Dukes from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellington eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wellington also got a goal from Spencer Turcotte as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Jacob Hetherington and Luc Brown, who contributed one a piece.

The Muskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lindsay ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gregory was ejected from the game. The Dukes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
