Mississauga downs North York in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

A Valente gave the Mississauga Chargers a 4-3 (OT) victory over the North York Rangers when he scored 56 seconds into the extra period.

Mississauga came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Chargers fell behind 2-0 after a goal by North York's John Carpino at 17:23 in the first period. Mississauga knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Mitchell Mehling at 18:47 in the third period.

Ryan Hunter and Valente provided the spark for the Chargers, combining for three goals and one assist. Hunter had two goals and one assist and Valente also added one goal.

Team could not crack the Rangers' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Mississauga also got points from Mehling, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Mississauga received assists from A Latina, Cosimo Fontana, Zackery Landsfield, and Nick Zottl, who contributed one a piece.

North York forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The Rangers had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. Mississauga was unable to stop North York from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

North York additionally got points from Corey Kalk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Liam Kerins, Dana Tenenbaum, and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one.

Austin Washkurak recorded 31 saves for the Chargers. Mississauga ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Chargers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Vince Figliomeni was ejected from the game. Keogh Jacob rejected 25 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For North York, Scott Maguire was ejected from the game.
