Kyler Nixon gave the Newmarket Hurricanes a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Stouffville Spirit when he scored 36 seconds into the extra period. Newmarket was led by goalie Matthew Wintjes, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Wintjes certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.28 entering the contest. The Hurricanes were led by Nixon, who grabbed one goal. Newmarket's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Stouffville power plays. The Hurricanes kept Stouffville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 33 saves on 35 shots. Newmarket also got a goal from Chris Chiste as well. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Brandon Francisco, Brycin Morrison, Calvin Higley, and Daniel Leavens, who each chipped in one. The Spirit did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Stouffville puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Spirit's offense rang up 34 shots on Newmarket's net. Stouffville was led by Corey DeRose, who scored the team's only goal. DeRose scored 13:55 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Michael Stevens provided the assist. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Spirit incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
