Georgetown takes care of Hamilton early, wins 9-4

The Georgetown Raiders opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-4 over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Alex Botten was all over the ice for Georgetown, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Botten scored 4:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Nick Perruccio picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:28 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Raiders forced Hamilton goalie Bret Gilmore to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Georgetown outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Raiders average 3.9 goals per contest.

Georgetown also got points from David Miller, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Perruccio, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Drake Hart, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jacob Bauchman, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Robbie Murden, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Steve Hladin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Alex Adams, who had one, Anthony Marra, who had two, and Brendan Woods, who had three.

The Red Wings were led by Dylan Hutton, who racked up two goals. Hutton scored the first of his two goals at 5:16 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Georgetown. Niko Porikos provided the assist. Hutton's next tally made the score 6-3 Georgetown with 3:41 left in the second period. Luke Laidlaw assisted on the tally. Troy Crema also scored for Hamilton. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Chris Micallef, Jason OConnor, Patrice Fozo, Mark Inglis, and Wil Pointon, who contributed one a piece.

Knick Dawe rejected 21 shots on goal for Georgetown. The Raiders totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adams was ejected from the game. Hamilton's Gilmore stopped 34 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Red Wings totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Team's Laidlaw and Sam Berg were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
