The game between the North York Rangers and the Burlington Cougars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end North York emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Chris Aitcheson at 17:34 of the third period. Corey Kalk had one goal and two assists to lead the Rangers. Kalk scored on the power play 37 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-2. Liam Kerins picked up the assist. North York put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Burlington to score on any of its three power plays. The Cougars were unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and North York eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. North York additionally got points from Aitcheson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. John Carpino also scored for North York. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Patrick Piacentini and Ryan Kinsella, who contributed one a piece. Burlington's offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers' net. The Cougars struggled on the penalty kill, allowing North York to score two power play goals on three chances. Burlington was helped by Mark Rodgers, who tallied one goal. Rodgers scored 5:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burlington. Alex Landry assisted on the tally. Burlington also got a goal from Mike Sones as well. More assists for Burlington came via Steven Mueller, Joe Sullivan, and Luke Sinclair, who each chipped in one. Keogh Jacob recorded 29 saves for the Rangers. North York incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Cougars' Alex Murray stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Burlington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Cougars, Sinclair was ejected from the game.
