Marinac's hat trick boosts Trenton over Wellington, 8-3

Nick Marinac netted a hat trick to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks over the Wellington Dukes, 8-3.

Marinac's first goal came 51 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 18:53 into the first and at 3:56 into the second.

Trenton gained an early advantage, leading 4-0 by the end of the first period.

Wellington's power play was ineffective against the Golden Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Trenton made the Dukes' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Matt Larose made 24 stops and Hayden Lavigne made five. The Golden Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Trenton averages 3.7 goals per game. The Golden Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Trenton also got points from Josh Timpano, who also registered one goal and three assists and Jordan Minello, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Trenton also got a goal from Erlich Doerksen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Michael Walker, Greg Trichilo, and Truman Landowski, who contributed one a piece and Dillon Warner and Krystian Yorke, who each chipped in two.

Luc Brown also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Mike Soucier, Jake Marchment, Austin Broadhurst, and Cam Nicoll, who contributed one a piece.

Trenton's starting goalie, Victor Adamo, made 19 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Winsor, who stopped five shots. The Golden Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
