Lindsay squeaks by Whitby, 5-3Lindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Dec 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Whitby Fury. Lindsay gained the winning advantage on a goal by Corey Jackson 8:15 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Muskies were paced by Jackson, who grabbed one goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Lindsay additionally got points from Bryan Hignett, who also had one goal and one assist and Dean Klomp, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Lindsay also got a goal from Patrick Thornton as well. More assists for Lindsay came via Cole Murduff, who had two and Jacob Walters, Bryce Sweeting, and Terry Snoddon, who contributed one a piece. Whitby's offense rang up 47 shots on Lindsay's net. The Fury were helped by Steven Deeg, who registered one goal. Deeg scored on the power play 18:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lindsay. Whitby had gotten the advantage when the Muskies' Jake Taylor was sent off for slashing. Taylor Best picked up the assist. Sam Gray also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Spencer MacCormack, who had one. Lindsay's Tanner Davis stopped 44 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Muskies incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tyler Feaver recorded 23 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
