Evan Buitenhuis made 37 saves to complete the shutout and led the Oakville Blades to a 12-0 win against the Burlington Cougars. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:19 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. Oakville was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The Blades surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Oakville forced Burlington's goalies to work in net, getting 44 shots and forcing 32 saves. Alex Murray made 19 stops and Brock Novak made 13. The Blades' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Cougars. Oakville allows 2.3 goals per game. The Blades surpassed their usual scoring output this season. The Cougars had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Burlington's offense operated below it season average. The Cougars put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Oakville was unable to stop Burlington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Blades registered six goals on 14 power play opportunities.
