Whitby holds on for 3-2 win against StouffvilleStouffville Arena Thu, Dec 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Whitby Fury held on for a 3-2 victory. Whitby made the score 3-0 on a goal by Spencer MacCormack at 19:56 in the first period, and Stouffville got as close as 3-2 when Daryl Thompson scored 2:40 into the third period. MacCormack had two goals to lead the Fury to victory. Whitby cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. Whitby also got a goal from Steven Deeg as well. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Jack Lewis, who had two and Chris Raguseo and Matt Davis, who each chipped in one. The Spirit were helped by Michael Stevens, who tallied one goal and one assist. Stevens scored on the power play 13:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. An interference penalty on Raguseo had put Stouffville on the power play. Thompson picked up the assist. Stouffville additionally got points from Thompson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Matthew Dunlop and Corey DeRose, who contributed one a piece. Tyler Feaver recorded 16 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Daniel Mannella rejected 18 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
