Burlington beats Orangeville 7-4 as Conacher gets hat trick

Shane Conacher netted a hat trick to lead the Burlington Cougars over the Orangeville Flyers, 7-4.

Conacher got on the scoresheet 28 seconds into the third period. He then added goals at 3:53 into the third and at 12:27 into the third.

Orangeville was unable to stop Burlington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Burlington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Burlington additionally got points from Tyler Lepore, who also tallied one goal and three assists. Burlington also got a goal from Daniel Campbell as well. In addition, Burlington received assists from Jeremy Gottzmann, who had three and Gavin Shantz, Adam Ostemiere, Ellery O Hara, Mike Sones, Mack Boyce, Cooper Richards, and Adam Glynn, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers were helped by Keegan Ackerland, who had two goals. Ackerland scored the first of his two goals at 2:13 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Burlington. Ackerland's next tally made the score 6-4 Burlington with 14:05 left in the third period. Brandon Gaudette picked up the assist. Orangeville also got points from Jordan Carvalho, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ian Nichols also scored for Orangeville. More assists for Orangeville came via Blake Forslund, Matteo Condotta, Joshua Decosta, and Taylor Welsh, who contributed one a piece.

Burlington's Brock Novak stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Taylor Welsh made 31 saves for Orangeville on 38 shots. The Flyers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
