Whitby falls apart in second, loses to Aurora, 7-3Aurora Community Centre Sat, Dec 08, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Aurora Tigers used a four-goal second period to put away the Whitby Fury, 7-3. Aurora forced Whitby's goalies to work in net, finishing with 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Josh Hickey made 16 stops and Tyler Feaver made nine. The Tigers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Aurora finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Tigers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Aurora has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. The Tigers were led by Mihkel Poldma, who tallied one goal and one assist. Poldma scored 8:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aurora. Taylor McCloy provided the assist. Aurora additionally got points from McCloy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Kyle Liu, who had two and Dylan Wallace, Matt Andreacchi, and Adam DiBrina, who each put in one. More assists for Aurora came via Tyler Shaw, Tanner Shaw, Dylan Sikura, Adam Moody, and Robert Angiolella, who contributed one a piece and Zack MacArthur and Daniel Clairmont, who each chipped in two. The Fury kept Aurora's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Sinclair made 34 saves on 37 shots. Whitby was helped by Taylor Best, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Best scored 2:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Greg Milner assisted on the tally. Whitby also got points from Milner, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Whitby received assists from Chris Raguseo, Matt Eddy, Matt Davis, and Anders Neilson APJ, who contributed one a piece. The Tigers registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Fury incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
