Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wellington Dukes defeated the Kingston Voyageurs in a shootout 5-4 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Kingston got shootout goals from Graham Yeo and Ludlow Harris. Wellington also got shootout goals from Mike Soucier and Erick Delaurentis.The Dukes came back from a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wellington trailed 4-0 after a goal by the Voyageurs' Brett Du Puy at 5:41 in the second period. The Dukes knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Delaurentis at 17:37 in the third period. Wellington got the win on the strength of a great game by Delaurentis, who had two goals and one assist. Delaurentis scored the first of his two goals at 16:53 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Kingston. Abbot Girduckis assisted on the tally. Delaurentis' next tally made the score with 2:23 left in the third period. A tripping penalty on Du Puy had put the Dukes on the power play. Spencer Turcotte picked up the assist. Wellington managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Dukes ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. Wellington forced Kingston goalie Colin Dzijacky to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Wellington additionally got points from Josh Gervais, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brian Bunnett also scored for Wellington. More assists for Wellington came via Josh Finkelstein, Joe McKeown, and Kyle Paat, who each chipped in one. The Voyageurs forced Dukes' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 44 shots and forcing 40 saves. Matt Larose made 28 stops and Hayden Lavigne made 12. Kingston was led by David Quesnele, who registered two goals and one assist. Quesnele scored the first of his two goals at 15:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kingston. Kris Grant provided the assist. Quesnele's next tally made the score 3-0 Kingston with six seconds left in the first period. Aidan Wright assisted on the tally. Kingston also got a goal from Harris as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Michael Schug, Yeo, Brandon O Quinn, and Michael Casale, who contributed one a piece. The Dukes registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Dzijacky recorded 29 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
