Aurora outlasts Cobourg, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Aurora Tigers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Cobourg Cougars.

Aurora gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kory Kennedy 13:15 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Kennedy had two goals and one assist to lead the Tigers. Kennedy scored the first of his two goals at 8:21 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. Robert Angiolella picked up the assist. Kennedy's next tally made the score 3-2 Aurora with 6:45 left in the third period. A high sticking penalty on Matt Martin had put Aurora on the power play. Taylor McCloy assisted on the tally.

Aurora additionally got points from Angiolella, who also registered one goal and one assist. Adam DiBrina also scored for Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Dylan Wallace, Adam Moody, and Matt Andreacchi, who contributed one a piece.

Cobourg's offense rang up 35 shots on the Tigers' net.

The Cougars were helped by Evan Jasper, who tallied one goal. Jasper scored on the power play 14:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Cobourg earned a power play opportunity when Moody was put in the box for boarding. Connor Armour picked up the assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Dylan Goddard as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Justin Danforth and Conor Carson, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Entmaa recorded 33 saves for Aurora. The Tigers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Aurora, Justin Nice was ejected from the game. The Cougars' Nathan Perry stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cobourg totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rylee McKinnon was ejected from the game.
