Tyler Gjurich had two goals and one assist to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to a 7-3 victory over the Milton Icehawks. Gjurich scored at 18:10 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Buffalo and again while 3:56 into the third to make the score 6-1 Buffalo.Buffalo's penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Sabres gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:07 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Buffalo racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Sabres surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Buffalo kept Milton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Braden Mann made 37 saves on 44 shots. The Jr. Sabres outdid their season average for goals scored. Buffalo averages 4.2 goals per game. Buffalo also got points from Ryan Schmelzer, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Buffalo included Pat Egan, who had two and David Seward and Nick Gullo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Darrin Trebes, Ryall Ledyard, Alex Dagnal, and Nolan Sheeran, who contributed one a piece and Tony DeVito, Nathan Pelligra, and Tim Kielich, who each chipped in two. The Icehawks were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and three majors for 65 minutes in penalty time. Milton had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Icehawks were led by Daniel Holt, who had one goal and two assists. Holt scored 3:25 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Buffalo. Brad Kobryn assisted on the tally. Shane Bennett also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Michael Capicotto, who had two. Parker Gahagen recorded 32 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Buffalo, Seward and Sean Federow were ejected from the contest. Team's Jeremy Laing, Capicotto, Tye Campbell, and Patrick Arnold were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
