Burlington blows out Toronto Lakeshore, 8-4

The Burlington Cougars were firing on all cylinders against the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, and when the final buzzer sounded Cougars emerged with an 8-4 win.

Tyler VanKleef was all over the ice for Burlington, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. VanKleef scored 19:35 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Burlington. Adam Ostemiere provided the assist.

The Cougars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Burlington averages 3.9 goals per game. The Cougars' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Burlington struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 40 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays.

Burlington additionally got points from Mike Sones, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Tyler Lepore, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Adam Glynn, who also had one goal and two assists. Burlington also had goals scored by Tyler Mayea, who had two and Cooper Richards and Mark Rodgers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burlington received assists from Mack Boyce, Joe Sullivan, Alex Landry, and Shane Conacher, who contributed one a piece and Steven Mueller and Jeremy Gottzmann, who each chipped in two.

Toronto Lakeshore stifled the Cougars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots' offense rang up 50 shots on Burlington's net.

Toronto Lakeshore was helped by Daniel Tedesco, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tedesco scored on the power play 4:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Burlington. The Patriots had gained a power play chance when Rodgers was whistled for charging. Kyle Dutra assisted on the tally. Angelpooulos Peter also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Alex D Oliveira, who had two and Tyler Enns, Dylan Carter, Nathan Feric, and Brody Heleno, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Murray made 46 saves for the Cougars on 50 shots. Burlington registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Stormer Santana took the loss and made eight saves before being replaced by Joseph Pianta who made 14 saves. Toronto Lakeshore incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
