Milton's Holt deadly on offense in 6-3 win against Orangeville

The Milton Icehawks relied on the scoring touch of Daniel Holt, who netted two goals, to beat the Orangeville Flyers, 6-3.

Holt's tallies came on the power play at 41 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 6:45 into the third to make the score 5-3 Milton.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:09 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Milton additionally got points from Michael Capicotto, who also registered one goal and three assists, Tye Campbell, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Shane Bennett, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Milton also got a goal from Brad Kobryn as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Jonathon Buttitta, who had two and Tyler Burns, Patrick Arnold, and Will Irons, who contributed one a piece.

Orangeville was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Flyers had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Orangeville was helped by Keegan Ackerland, who had one goal. Ackerland scored on the power play 13:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Orangeville. A fighting penalty on Brock Bottachio had put the Flyers on the power play. Blake Forslund picked up the assist. Orangeville also got points from Forslund, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brandon Gaudette also scored for Orangeville. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Ian Nichols, Peter Stepanis, Brendon APJ Lyons, and Jordan Carvalho, who each chipped in one.

Braden Mann recorded 23 saves for Milton. The Icehawks totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Milton, Bottachio and Austin Kosack were ejected from the contest. Taylor Welsh made 20 saves for Orangeville on 26 shots. The Flyers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Orangeville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stepanis was ejected from the game.
