Newmarket's Higley deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Aurora

Calvin Higley had two goals to lead the Newmarket Hurricanes to a 3-1 victory over the Aurora Tigers.

Higley's tallies came at 4:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Newmarket and 13:24 into the third to make the score 3-1 Newmarket.

Newmarket excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Newmarket also got a goal from Daniel Leavens as well. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Sean Walker, Chris Chiste, Austin Rigney, and Brycin Morrison, who contributed one a piece.

Aurora was led by Matt Andreacchi, who scored the team's only goal. Andreacchi scored short handed 36 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Robert Angiolella picked up the assist.

Matthew Wintjes rejected 21 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Newmarket totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Hurricanes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alex Bontje was ejected from the game. Kevin Entmaa made 25 saves for the Tigers on 28 shots. Aurora incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
