Huge game by Buckles boosts St. Michaels over Hamilton, 10-3

Matt Buckles had one goal and five assists to lead the St. Michaels Buzzers to a 10-3 victory over the Hamilton Red Wings.

Buckles beat Jake Rennie with a shot 19:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Patrick McCarron picked up the assist. Buckles dished an assist on Michael Neville's goal that made the score 3-1 St. Michaels at 9:03 into the second period. He then added assists on Matt Pepler's goal at 4:20 into the third, on Neville's goal at 5:26 into the third, on Jake Evans' goal at 12:52 into the third, and on Ted Hunt's goal at 19:18 into the third.

St. Michaels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hamilton to score on any of its five power plays. The Buzzers forced the Red Wings goalie Rennie to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots. St. Michaels found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Buzzers average 4.1 goals per game. St. Michaels was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 40 penalty minutes.

St. Michaels also got points from Neville, who also registered two goals and one assist, Evans, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Pepler, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and McCarron, who also had one goal and three assists. David Italiano also scored for St. Michaels. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Mike Lansdowne, who had two and Jared Walsh, Joseph Berton, and CJ Shugart, who each chipped in one.

Hamilton's offense rang up 44 shots on the Buzzers' net. The Red Wings' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Hamilton finished with 52 penalty minutes.

The Red Wings were helped by Dylan Hutton, who registered two goals. Hutton scored the first of his two goals at 41 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Troy Crema provided the assist. Hutton's next tally made the score 3-3 with 19:34 left in the third period. Spencer Hyman picked up the assist. Hamilton additionally got points from Crema, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Hamilton came via Wil Pointon, who had one and Luke Laidlaw, who had two.

George Argiropoulos rejected 41 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Rennie recorded 47 saves for Hamilton.
