Lindsay uses shootout to best Cobourg, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lindsay Muskies defeated the Cobourg Cougars in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Cobourg got a shootout goal from Dylan Goddard. In addition to the clincher, Lindsay got a shootout goal from Louis-David Bourgault.

The Muskies overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lindsay fell behind 2-1 after a goal by the Cougars' Connor Armour at 10:30 in the second period. The Muskies tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Vince Herlihey at 15:16 in the third period.

Lindsay forced Cobourg's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots and forcing 46 saves. Joe Keyser made 14 stops and Nathan Perry made 32. The Muskies excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Lindsay was helped by Jake Taylor, who tallied one goal. Taylor scored 2:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jacob Walters picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Dylan Fitze, who had one and Dean Klomp, who had two.

The Cougars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Muskies to score on any of their four power plays. Cobourg kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tanner Davis made 38 saves on 40 shots.

Evan Jasper also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Liam Grande APM, Justin Danforth, and Conor Carson, who each chipped in one.

The Muskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Cougars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
