Bew lifts Cobourg over Pickering, 8-2

Dalton Bew was all over the ice for the Cobourg Cougars, as he tallied five goals in Cobourg's 8-2 win over the Pickering Panthers.

Bew's first goal came 10:49 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:04 into the first, at 1:55 into the second, at 3:26 into the third, and at 17:17 into the third.

The Cougars forced Pickering's netminders to work without much rest, racking up 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. J P Cesario made 23 stops and CJ Sharp made 10. Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Cougars outdid their season average for goals scored. Cobourg has scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cobourg also got a goal from Mitchell Burghardt as well. More assists for Cobourg came via Taylor Gauld, who had three, Rylee McKinnon, Matt Martin, Cody Mintz, Dylan Goddard, Conor Carson, and Kenzie Smith, who contributed one a piece, and Jake Emilio and Connor Armour, who each chipped in two.

Penalties took their toll on the Panthers, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Pickering was led by Cory Lauer, who had one goal. Lauer scored 5:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Jeff Heard picked up the assist. Jarett Smith also scored for Pickering. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Josh Herrington and Carlos Amestoy, who contributed one a piece.

Nathan Perry recorded 24 saves for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Panthers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
