Georgetown holds on for 5-3 win against St. MichaelsMold-Master SportsPlex Sat, Nov 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Georgetown Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by the St. Michaels Buzzers on the way to a 5-3 win. Georgetown made the score 5-1 on a goal by Anthony Marra at 15:02 in the second period, and St. Michaels got as close as 5-3 when Matt Buckles scored 18:06 into the third period. The Raiders were paced by CJ Stellato, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stellato scored 8:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Marra provided the assist. Georgetown made the Buzzers' netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Adrian Ignagni made 19 stops and George Argiropoulos made eight. Georgetown also got points from David Miller, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Steve Hladin, who also had one goal and one assist, and Marra, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nicholas Dozzi also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via Robbie Murden, who had two and Thomas Welsh, Liam Clare, Brendan Jacome, and John Adams, who contributed one a piece. St. Michaels forced Raiders' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 38 shots and forcing 35 saves. Daniel Mannella made 29 stops and Gabe Grunwald made six. The Buzzers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. St. Michaels also got a goal from Mike Lansdowne as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from David Italiano, who had two and Jared Walsh, Michael Neville, Troy Josephs, and Patrick McCarron, who each chipped in one. The Raiders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Michaels registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
