Orangeville downs North York in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Orangeville Flyers pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the North York Rangers on a clutch goal by Kelby Lorenz.

Orangeville was led by goalie Taylor Welsh, who finished with 42 saves while allowing one goal. Welsh managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.27 prior to the game.

The Flyers were paced by Lorenz, who racked up one goal. Lorenz scored 4:35 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Orangeville. Kyle Thacker assisted on the tally.

Orangeville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow North York to score on any of its five power plays.

Keegan Ackerland also scored for Orangeville. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Jayme Forslund, John Doyle, and Blake Forslund, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers were held below their usual level of production. North York puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Rangers forced the Flyers goalie Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

North York was led by Corey Kalk, who scored the team's only goal. Kalk scored 12:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. John Carpino provided the assist.

Orangeville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jason Pucciarelli rejected 21 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
