Whitby survives Stouffville comeback, wins 5-3Stouffville Arena Thu, Nov 22, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Whitby Fury held on for a 5-3 victory. Whitby made the score 5-1 on a goal by Nick Neal at 8:48 in the third period, and Stouffville got as close as 5-3 when Dylan Savory scored 17:24 into the third period. The Fury pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Whitby was helped by Matt Davis, who grabbed one goal. Davis scored on the power play 3:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. The Fury earned a power play opportunity when Josh Carrick was put in the box for hooking. Spencer MacCormack provided the assist. Greg Milner also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Raguseo, Sean Deroch, Annetta Aeric, Matt Eddy, Tyler Park, Jack Lewis, Henry Thompson, Taylor Best, and Ryan Logan, who contributed one a piece. Team could not crack Whitby's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Stouffville also got a goal from Justin Wain as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Alex Botten, Michael Morgan, and Jacob Bauchman, who each chipped in one. The Fury's Josh Hickey stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Whitby registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Knick Dawe rejected 20 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
