Toronto Lakeshore rips Georgetown, 5-2

The Georgetown Raiders had trouble finding ways to stop the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, which beat Raiders, 5-2.

Toronto Lakeshore forced Georgetown's netminders to work in net, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. Gabe Grunwald made 17 stops and Daniel Mannella made 13.

The Patriots were helped by Niko Kovachis, who racked up one goal. Kovachis scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Daniel Tedesco provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore additionally got points from Tedesco, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Angelpooulos Peter, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Kyle Dutra, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mike Vallescuro also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Michael Apreda, who had two and Brandon Willett and Kevin Pietrobon, who contributed one a piece.

The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Toronto Lakeshore power plays.

Georgetown was helped by Steve Hladin, who racked up one goal. Hladin scored on the power play 19:15 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Toronto Lakeshore. A high sticking penalty on Tyler Currie had put the Raiders on the power play. Tyler McCarthy picked up the assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Thomas Welsh as well. More assists for Georgetown came via David Miller, Anthony Marra, and Santino Centorame, who each chipped in one.

Joseph Pianta recorded 27 saves for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Georgetown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
