Hladin's hat trick boosts Georgetown over Hamilton, 11-6

A hat trick by Steve Hladin was the highlight in Raiders' 11-6 win against the Hamilton Red Wings.

Hladin's first goal came 4:57 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:59 into the first and at 3:26 into the third.

The Georgetown Raiders led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring five goals in the second.

Georgetown's penalty kill excelled, as the Raiders gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Georgetown made Hamilton's netminders to work all game long, finishing with 48 shots and forcing 37 saves. Allen Avery made 17 stops and Jake Rennie made 20. The Raiders stifled the Red Wings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Raiders average 3.4 goals per contest. Georgetown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Georgetown also got points from Tyler MacPherson, who also had one goal and one assist, Brendan Woods, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Anthony Marra, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Richard Court, who also registered one goal and one assist. Thomas Welsh also scored for Georgetown. More assists for Georgetown came via John Adams, who had three, Drake Hart, Nicholas Dozzi, CJ Stellato, and Robbie Murden, who each chipped in one, and David Miller and Alex Adams, who contributed two a piece.

Hamilton was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 59 minutes in penalty time. The Red Wings had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game. Hamilton forced the Raiders goalie Daniel Mannella to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Red Wings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Hamilton averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Red Wings were helped by Jordan Merante, who had two goals. Merante scored the first of his two goals short handed at 2:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Hamilton was on a disadvantage when Joey Benitah went off the ice for fighting. Troy Crema assisted on the tally. Merante's next tally short handed made the score 2-2 with 10:28 left in the first period. Braxton Andrews provided the assist. Hamilton additionally got points from Crema, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Liam Bird, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Nick Scamurra, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Hamilton also got a goal from Adam Brady as well. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Spencer Hyman, Oliver Hyman, Luke Laidlaw, Denis Fontyn, Sam Berg, and Dylan Hutton, who each chipped in one.

Mannella rejected 26 shots on goal for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 56 minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Red Wings, Benitah was ejected from the game.
