Toronto survives Burlington comeback, wins 3-2

The Toronto Junior Canadiens survived a determined comeback attempt by the Burlington Cougars on the way to a 3-2 win.

Toronto made the score 3-1 on a goal by Cody Thompson at 15:41 in the third period, and Burlington got as close as 3-2 when Adam Glynn scored 15:58 into the third period.

The Junior Canadiens were sparked by Thompson, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Toronto managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Junior Canadiens ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game.

Toronto additionally got points from Aaron Spivak, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Toronto also got a goal from Jimin Kim as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto were Aaron Thow, Connor Prudames, Nicholas Jarzabek, and Anthony Repaci, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Toronto power plays.

Mark Rodgers also scored for Burlington. More assists for Burlington came via Gavin Shantz, who had one.

Nathan Colitto rejected 25 shots on goal for Toronto. Burlington's Brock Novak stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
