Burlington vanquishes Buffalo in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Burlington Cougars defeated the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.

Burlington overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cougars trailed 2-0 after a goal by Buffalo's Pat Egan at 19:27 in the first period. Burlington tied things up at 2-2 on a short handed goal by Adam Glynn at 9:36 in the third period.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Burlington's offense rang up 34 shots on the Jr. Sabres' net.

Burlington also got a goal from Steven Mueller as well. In addition, Burlington received assists from Tyler Mayea, who had one and Shane Conacher, who had two.

Max Mikowski also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were R.J. Sciarrone, Ben Casale, Tyler Gjurich, and Nolan Sheeran, who each chipped in one.

Alex Murray recorded 28 saves for the Cougars. Burlington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Parker Gahagen made 31 saves for Buffalo on 33 shots. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
