Trenton vanquishes Wellington in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Wellington Dukes in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

Wellington was unable to stop Trenton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Hawks eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Trenton was helped by Mike Nedoszytko, who racked up one goal. Nedoszytko scored 3:03 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Erlich Doerksen assisted on the tally. Trenton also got a goal from Jordan Minello as well. More assists for Trenton came via Josh Timpano and Krystian Yorke, who contributed one a piece.

The Dukes forced the Golden Hawks goalie Andrew Winsor to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Wellington was helped by Erick Delaurentis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Delaurentis scored on the power play 14:34 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Dukes earned a power play opportunity when Nedoszytko was put in the box for slashing. Craig Campbell provided the assist. Wellington additionally got points from Campbell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Wellington received assists from Josh Gervais and Mike Soucier, who each chipped in one.

Winsor rejected 32 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Wellington's Matt Larose stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Dukes incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
