Huge game by Leach boosts Milton over Hamilton, 8-4Milton Memorial Arena Fri, Nov 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Griffin Leach had one goal and two assists to lead the Milton Icehawks to an 8-4 victory over the Hamilton Red Wings. Leach beat Jake Rennie with a shot 16:26 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Milton. Karndeep Natt provided the assist. Leach dished an assist on Natt's goal that made the score 4-3 Milton at 13:03 into the second period. He added another helper on Poul Gonzalez's goal that made the score 8-4 Milton at 19:07 into the third period.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:16 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Milton stifled Hamilton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Icehawks kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Rennie made 44 saves on 52 shots. Milton found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Icehawks have scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Milton also got points from Tye Campbell, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ryan Burns, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Natt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Rocky Furfari also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Shane Bennett and Patrick Arnold, who each chipped in one and Jonathon Buttitta, Austin Kosack, Brad Kobryn, and Justin Devincentis, who contributed two a piece. Milton was unable to stop Hamilton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Red Wings eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Hamilton was led by Dylan Hutton, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hutton scored 10:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hamilton. Luke Laidlaw picked up the assist. Hamilton additionally got points from Laidlaw, who also had one goal and one assist.
