Cobourg wins tough contest against Kingston, 5-3INVISTA Center Thu, Nov 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cobourg Cougars escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Kingston Voyageurs. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Riley Robertson's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Cobourg got the win thanks to a great game by Justin Danforth, who had one goal and three assists. Danforth scored 19:49 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Cobourg. Evan Jasper picked up the assist. The Cougars kept Kingston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charlie Finn made 30 saves on 35 shots. Cobourg's goal total was higher than its season average. The Cougars average 2.7 goals per game. Cobourg also got points from Dylan Goddard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jasper, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Connor Armour, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Taylor Gauld, who had one and Colbie Andrews, who had two. The Voyageurs were led by Ludlow Harris, who had one goal and one assist. Harris scored 14:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Brandon Wolframe provided the assist. Francesco Vilardi also scored for Kingston. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Brian Nanne and Graham Yeo, who contributed one a piece. Nathan Perry made 23 saves for Cobourg on 26 shots. The Cougars avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of five power plays. Kingston incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
