Girduckis leads Wellington over Stouffville, 6-2

The Wellington Dukes' Abbot Girduckis had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-2 win over the Stouffville Spirit.

Girduckis got on the board by slotting home a goal 7:57 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wellington. Craig Campbell picked up the assist. Girduckis dished an assist on Geoff Cleminson's goal that made the score 4-2 Wellington at 9:41 into the third period. He added another helper on Brody Morris' goal that made the score 6-2 Wellington at 14:34 into the third period.

Wellington forced Stouffville goalie Braydon Banitsiotis to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Dukes outdid their season average for goals scored. Wellington has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Wellington additionally got points from Campbell, who also had one goal and two assists and Josh Gervais, who also registered one goal and one assist. Luc Brown also scored for Wellington. More assists for Wellington came via Kyle Paat, who had one, Erick Delaurentis, who had two, and Jake Marchment, who had three.

The Dukes were unable to stop the Spirit from sending pucks towards the net, and Stouffville eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

The Spirit were helped by Jacob Bauchman, who finished with one goal. Bauchman scored 5:39 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dylan Savory assisted on the tally. Stouffville also got a goal from Peyton Backus as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Alex Botten, Michael Morgan, and Joseph Deveny, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Larose made 41 saves for Wellington on 43 shots. The Dukes finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-1 with the man advantage. Banitsiotis rejected 33 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
