GAME RECAP

Whitby downs Kingston in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Iroquois - Rink#1    Sun, Nov 11, 2012

The Whitby Fury's Jack Lewis scored 14 seconds into overtime to beat the Kingston Voyageurs, 3-2 (OT).

Although Whitby was up by as many as two goals in the first period, Kingston kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Voyageurs pulled to within 2-1 on a power play goal by Kris Grant at 5:03 in the third period.

The Fury were sparked by Lewis, who had one goal.

Whitby racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Fury had been spending in the box.

Whitby also got a goal from Chris Raguseo as well. More assists for Whitby came via Sean Deroch, Spencer MacCormack, Matt Davis, and Marco Azzano, who contributed one a piece.

Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Whitby to score on any of its three power plays. The Voyageurs' offense rang up 39 shots on the Fury's net. The defensemen of Kingston were also effective in Whitby's zone, and came away with two goals.

In addition, Kingston received assists from Joey Seney, David Quesnele, Brett Seney, and Ludlow Harris, who each chipped in one.

The Fury's Tyler Feaver stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. For Whitby, Nick Neal was ejected from the game. Brandon O'Neil rejected 25 shots on goal for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
