North York beats St. Michaels 4-3 after comeback scare

The St. Michaels Buzzers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the North York Rangers held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Liam Kerins put North York up 3-1 in the third period, but St. Michaels pulled to within one on CJ Shugart's tally 2:27 into the third period.

The Rangers were paced by Nicholas Geiser, who tallied one goal. Geiser scored short handed 14:51 into the third period to make the score 4-3 North York. North York played down a man on Chris Aitcheson's equip/face mask incorrect. Matthew Whittaker assisted on the tally.

The Rangers stifled the Buzzers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. North York forced St. Michaels goalie Adrian Ignagni to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

North York additionally got points from Valadao Adam, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kerins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. North York also got a goal from John Carpino as well. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Patrick Piacentini, Fung Zachary, Corey Kalk, and Konnor Roskovich, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers were helped by Nicholas Lepone, who grabbed one goal. Lepone scored 17:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. Jordan Schneider picked up the assist. Tom Haley also scored for St. Michaels. More assists for St. Michaels came via Marco Ferraro, David Italiano, Joseph Berton, and Riley Devine, who contributed one a piece.

Jason Pucciarelli rejected 24 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ignagni recorded 29 saves for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
