Aurora falls to Stouffville in overtime, 1-0 (OT)

Jacob Bauchman gave the Stouffville Spirit a 1-0 (OT) victory over the Aurora Tigers when he scored 4:52 into the extra period.

Stouffville was boosted by Knick Dawe, who turned in a shutout with 39 saves. Dawe managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.87 prior to the game.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:28 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Spirit racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Stouffville surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Spirit's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Aurora power plays. Stouffville's offense operated below it season average. The Spirit average 3.5 goals per game. Stouffville's offense rang up 31 shots on Aurora's net.

In addition, Stouffville received assists from Alex Botten, who had one.

The Tigers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game Aurora had been spending in the box. The Tigers stifled the Spirit's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Aurora could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Tigers put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Aurora forced Stouffville goalie Dawe to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

The Spirit registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Stouffville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Wain was ejected from the game. Kevin Entmaa recorded 30 saves for the Tigers. For Aurora, Justin Nice was ejected from the game.
