Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Orangeville Flyers defeated the North York Rangers in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. North York got a shootout goal from Liam Kerins. Orangeville also got a shootout goal from Thomas Tsicos.The Flyers overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Orangeville fell behind 4-3 after a goal by the Rangers' Michael Florindo at 11:28 in the third period. The Flyers tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Keegan Ackerland at 18:13 in the third period. Orangeville forced North York goalie Jason Pucciarelli to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Flyers were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. Orangeville was led by Joshua Decosta, who tallied two goals. Decosta scored the first of his two goals at 1:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orangeville. Jason Abbott picked up the assist. Decosta's next tally made the score 3-3 with 15:42 left in the third period. Emmerson Small assisted on the tally. Orangeville also got a goal from Tsicos as well. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Kyle Wood, Kyle Thacker, Kelby Lorenz, and Jordan Carvalho, who contributed one a piece. The Rangers kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Welsh made 33 saves on 37 shots. North York's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rangers finished with 34 penalty minutes. North York was led by Valadao Adam, who finished with two goals. Adam scored the first of his two goals at 10:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Adam's next tally made the score 2-2 with 18:41 left in the third period. The Rangers earned a power play opportunity when Geoffrey Bagnall was put in the box for tripping. Kerins picked up the assist. North York also got points from Ryan Kinsella, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Patrick Piacentini, Power Brody, and Scott Maguire, who each chipped in one. Orangeville incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Flyers, Lorenz was ejected from the game. Pucciarelli rejected 30 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. North York ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chris Aitcheson was ejected from the game.
