Lindsay uses early goal to top Trenton, 2-0

Cole Murduff gave the Lindsay Muskies the lead in the first period, and the Trenton Golden Hawks was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

A goal 11:08 into the the first period by Murduff proved to be the game winner, and powered Lindsay to the victory.

Greg Zupan spearheaded the defensive effort for the Muskies, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 26 saves for the shutout. Zupan certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.4 entering the contest.

Lindsay was led by Murduff, who finished with one goal.

The Muskies' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Trenton power plays. Lindsay was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Muskies gives up 2.5 goals on average per game.

Dylan Fitze also scored for Lindsay.

Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Golden Hawks' offense operated below they season average. Trenton puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Lindsay incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Andrew Winsor rejected 22 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alex Leader was ejected from the game.
