Toronto Lakeshore uses shootout to best Milton, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots defeated the Milton Icehawks in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Milton's shootout goals were scored by Spencer Gourlay and Kane Elliot. In addition to the clincher, Toronto Lakeshore got shootout goals from Daniel Tedesco and Nathan Feric.

The Patriots pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 54 penalty minutes.

Toronto Lakeshore forced the Icehawks goalie Braden Mann to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

The Patriots were helped by Mike Vallescuro, who racked up one goal. Vallescuro scored 26 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Lakeshore. William Seligman provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore also got a goal from Doug Bonar as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Dylan Carter, Feric, and Kyle Dutra, who each chipped in one.

Milton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Icehawks average 4.1 goals per game. Milton kept Toronto Lakeshore's goalie busy throughout the game, and eric angeli made 29 saves on 31 shots. The Icehawks were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances.

Milton was helped by Shane Bennett, who tallied one goal. Bennett scored on the power play 17:07 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A hooking penalty on Feric had put the Icehawks on the power play. Austin Kosack picked up the assist. Michael Capicotto also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Elliot, Brad Kobryn, and Ryan Burns, who contributed one a piece.

The Patriots registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For Toronto Lakeshore, Angelpooulos Peter was ejected from the game. Braden Mann made 37 saves for Milton on 39 shots. The Icehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
