Whitby survives Lindsay comeback, wins 4-3Lindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Whitby Fury held on for a 4-3 victory. Whitby made the score 3-1 on a goal by Sam Gray at 13:57 in the second period, and Lindsay got as close as 3-2 when Zack MacArthur scored 12:16 into the third period. The Fury were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game Whitby had been spending in the box. The Fury stifled the Muskies' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Whitby was led by Matt Davis, who finished with one goal and one assist. Davis scored 19:19 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Whitby. Spencer MacCormack assisted on the tally. Whitby additionally got points from Gray, who also had one goal and one assist. Mike Panowyk also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Chris Raguseo, Greg Milner, and Taylor Best, who each chipped in one. Lindsay was helped by Louis-David Bourgault, who tallied one goal and two assists. Bourgault scored 10:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Whitby. Vince Herlihey picked up the assist. Lindsay also got points from Herlihey, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Lindsay came via Felix Chamberland, who had three. Josh Hickey made 26 saves for the Fury on 29 shots. Whitby registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Fury, Sean Deroch was ejected from the game. Tanner Davis recorded 20 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. The Muskies ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bryce Sweeting was ejected from the game.
