Stouffville vanquishes Kingston in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Stouffville Spirit defeated the Kingston Voyageurs in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Kingston's shootout goal was scored by Ludlow Harris. In addition to the clincher, Stouffville got a shootout goal from Dylan Savory.

The Spirit overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Stouffville trailed 1-0 after a goal by the Voyageurs' Aidan Wright at 30 seconds in the second period. The Spirit tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Mackenzie Wood at 2:14 in the second period.

Stouffville was led by goalie Knick Dawe, who finished with 46 saves while allowing one goal. Dawe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.92 entering the contest.

The Spirit excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances.

In addition, Stouffville received assists from Sean Power and Robert Powers, who contributed one a piece.

Kingston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stouffville power plays. The Voyageurs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Kingston puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Voyageurs forced Stouffville goalie Dawe to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

The Spirit incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Charlie Finn made 25 saves for Kingston on 26 shots. The Voyageurs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
