Cobourg vanquishes Pickering in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)Pickering Recreation Complex Sun, Oct 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cobourg Cougars defeated the Pickering Panthers in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. Pickering's shootout goal was scored by Dylan Hutton. In addition to the clincher, Cobourg got a shootout goal from Evan Jasper.The Cougars overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Cobourg fell behind 3-2 after a goal by the Panthers' Jeff Heard at 11:04 in the second period. The Cougars tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jasper at 11:59 in the second period. Jasper had two goals to lead Cobourg to victory. The Cougars kept Pickering's goalie busy throughout the game, and Spencer Bacon made 29 saves on 33 shots. Conner Hogg also scored for Cobourg. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Colbie Andrews, who had two and Matt Martin and Connor Armour, who contributed one a piece. Pickering also got a goal from Aidan Wallace as well. More assists for Pickering came via Cody Doiron, Hutton, and Sean Levac, who each chipped in one. Nathan Perry rejected 24 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
