Wellington holds on for 2-1 win against Cobourg

The Cobourg Cougars tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Wellington Dukes held on for a 2-1 victory.

Wellington took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Cobourg storm back on a Dylan Goddard goal 15:18 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Dukes' Matt Larose was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Larose certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.96 entering the contest.

Wellington was led by Jan Kaminsky, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kaminsky scored 12:06 into the third period to make the score Wellington. Craig Campbell provided the assist.

The Dukes forced the Cougars goalie Joe Keyser to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Wellington also got points from Campbell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Wellington received assists from Parker Wood, who had one.

Cobourg's offense rang up 35 shots on Wellington's net.

The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Keyser recorded 32 saves for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
