Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wellington Dukes defeated the Aurora Tigers in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.Wellington kept Aurora's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett Sinclair made 29 saves on 32 shots. The Dukes were led by Craig Campbell, who registered two goals. Campbell scored the first of his two goals at 13:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Jan Kaminsky picked up the assist. Campbell's next tally made the score 2-0 Wellington with 5:13 left in the first period. The Tigers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Aurora ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Tigers were led by Dylan Sikura, who tallied two goals. Sikura scored the first of his two goals at 19:27 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Sikura's next tally made the score 2-2 with 16:26 left in the third period. Trevor Hughson provided the assist. More assists for Aurora came via Daniel Lisi, who had one. Matt Larose rejected 27 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Aurora registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
