Oakville survives Mississauga comeback, wins 4-3

The Mississauga Chargers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Oakville Blades would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Jonah Renouf put Oakville up 4-2 in the third period, but Mississauga pulled to within one on Jimmy Cusan's tally 3:09 into the third period.

The Blades got the win behind a great game by Renouf, who had two goals and one assist. Renouf scored the first of his two goals at 14:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Oakville. Nathan Renouf picked up the assist. Renouf's next tally made the score Oakville with 19:40 left in the third period. Kyle Jenkins provided the assist.

Oakville also got a goal from Patrick Chore as well. In addition, Oakville received assists from Stefan Leblanc, who had two.

The Chargers were helped by Mitchell Mehling, who racked up one goal. Mehling scored 13:49 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Cosimo Fontana picked up the assist. Stefano Alonzi also scored for Mississauga. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Matthew Hore, Nicholas Palumbo, Zackery Landsfield, B Beasley, and Lucas Venuto, who contributed one a piece.

Evan Buitenhuis recorded 16 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mississauga's Alex Lepore stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Chargers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mississauga ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Tetley was ejected from the game.
